A Father’s Day Tribute

Shawn, my son Kenton, and Wayne

Father’s Day Poem by Anthony F. Rando

I can’t count the time you’ve went out of your way
Knowing you’re there keeps me going everyday
You have a place of honor
Deep within my heart
Even though I might not show it
I can’t imagine what I’d do without you
I’ll treasure everything you taught me
Now that you are far away
I still love you and hope to see you someday

“A quote from my father, James Matthew Sullivan: ‘Help is defined by the recipient.’ My dad used to whistle Laura’s Theme. Hearing that still brings tears. My dad died when I was 15. That was a tough year.” – Ann Sullivan Adams

“My dad and I have always been like peanut butter and jelly, peas and carrots, chocolate and caramel, or any other pair that magically goes together. My fondest memory of my daddy, Chuck, is when he would make me laugh when I’d hurt myself. For instance, if I’d fall down and skin my knees and start crying about the pain, he’d reach over and pull my hair – I’d scream ouch! Then he’d say, ‘Well, you forgot about your knees  hurting didn’t you?’ We play that game to this day – I’m now 50 and he’s going to be 80 in April.”– Janet Young Beasley, http://www.jlbcreatives.blogspot.com

Quote for Father’s Day: “Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance.” – Ruth E. Renkel.

“He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” – Clarence Budington Kelland, American Author

“My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, ‘You’re tearing up the grass.’ ‘We’re not raising grass,’ Dad would reply. ‘We’re raising boys.’” – Harmon Killebrew, Major League Baseball player

“Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.” – Red Buttons, American Actor and Comedian

  5. Thanks so much Marta and Janet. I remember my Mom thinking the same thing about the grass in our home’s backyard. Her thought – grass grows back. Mom was a big baseball fan.
