Twitter-isms that need to die with 2021

“Retweet if you…”

“Raise your hand if you…”

“Like if you…”

“I didn’t have _____ on my bingo card…”

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but…”

(Brief declarative). “That’s the tweet.”

“Just to be clear…”

“BREAKING:” on everything you tweet.

People asking for retweets just to get something trending.

People asking for new followers just because it’s their birthday.

People asking for new followers because they are 100 shy of 50,000 followers.

Respond to my tweet “because I need to see something…”

Taking others’ words or ideas and passing them off as your own.

Retweeting copied photos or videos that you don’t give credit for.

Misquoting or typos in a quote.

  1. Time to bury them all beneath the ashes of 2021.

  2. Urgh – yes, forget them! Actually, I do the opposite of the “ask” when I see these. And in truth, I rarely tweet. Still don’t quite get the point. ;-0

I started to get more into Twitter around 2016, and I follow a lot of progressives, Dems, activists, etc. But, come on people! Have some original ideas to get shit trending! Also, instead of tweeting orFBing, I send a lot of correspondence to my area reps, senators, governor, and the president. And I make a lot of phone calls.

  3. No tweeter here so no comment on this. But Happy New Year and – keep writing.
